If A equals success, then the formula is: A = X + Y + Z, X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut.
A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
All our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike--and yet it is the most precious thing we have.
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.
I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.
Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.
It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity.
Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal.
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school.
I never thought that others would take them so much more seriously then I did.
Albert Einstein, about his theories
A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.
A man sits with a pretty girl for an hour and it seems shorter than a minute. But tell that same man to sit on a hot stove for a minute, it is longer than any hour. That's relativity.
If we knew what we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?
It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education.
If I have seen farther than others, it is because I was standing on the shoulders of giants.
I don't know with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
The release of atom power has changed everything except our way of thinking...the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.

Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
Quayle
I love California. I practically grew up in Phoenix.
It is a wonderful thing to be here in the great state of Chicago.
It's time for the human race to enter the solar system.
I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn't study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people.
Happy campers you have been, happy campers you are, and happy campers you will always be.
It’s a question of whether we’re going to go forward into the future, or past to the back.
Dan Quayle (extending his hand): I’m Dan Quayle. Who are you?
Woman: I’m your Secret Service Agent.
The question in life is not whether you get knocked down. You will. The question is, are you ready to get back up... and fight for what you believe in.
The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century.
We are not ready for an unforeseen event that may or may not occur.
I Made Beads!
I took a bead-making class through the Neighborhood Connection at Beadrageous on Broadway. It was a two-part class. The first evening we made black and white beads and learned how to make a round bead and an oblong bead, and how to put two colors together. The second class we got to pick any colors we wanted and just play. It was a lot of fun! These are the beads I made:

Brilliant idea #3 – rubber ducky bathroom!!!!!
Then there was the Demented Debacle of December 2006 wherein many of my earthly possessions were either chopped, bleached, or taken by Moron in a stunning display of How to Look Like a Crazy Person. Luckily, my duckies survived, tucked safely in a box under the basement stairs.
And it came upon me that life is too short and I may never have an actual bathroom in the basement, but there is a toilet throne and a sink, which will suffice for now. Introduce Rubber Ducky Collection to dark basement corner. Everyone lived happily ever after.
Brilliant idea #2 – unique touches to ordinary sheers
And I had these flower paper clips that had been in storage for some time. They had been gifts and I didn’t want to use them because then I would lose them, but I didn’t know what else to do with them.
Then I had my brilliant idea – put the paperclips on the curtains! Sounds weird, right? All I did was use white thread to tie the paperclip to the sheer and it adds a little visual interest to the sheer without being over the top or clunky. Picture!

Oscar Wilde
It is absurd to divide people into good or bad. People are either charming or tedious.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
A true friend stabs you in the front.
Oscar Wilde
No man is rich enough to buy back his past.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself.
Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900)
The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world it's own shame.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
Who, being loved, is poor?
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
I hope you have not been leading a double life, pretending to be wicked and being really good all the time. That would be hypocrisy.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.
Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
A friend is a person with whom I may be sincere. Before him, I may think aloud.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
The only way to have a friend is to be one.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
Every man I meet is in some way my superior.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
We are wiser than we know.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
In a library we are surrounded by many hundreds of dear friends, but they are imprisoned by an enchanter in these paper and leathern boxes; and though they know us, and have been waiting two, ten, or twenty centuries for us,—some of them,—and are eager to give us a sign and unbosom themselves, it is the law of their limbo that they must not speak until spoken to….
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it.
Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 - 1882)
I awoke this morning with devout thanksgiving for my friends, the old and the new.
